A Message from Dr. Patrick Rice Regarding the Lifting of the Mask Mandate

Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

As you are aware Illinois Governor Pritzker issued a mask mandate in an effort to halt the spread of the Delta Covid variant. Recently, two courts granted requests to lift mask mandates in Illinois. After these court hearings, Governor Pritzker laid out an exit plan to lift the ban of masks. How does this impact Cairo SD #1?

We recommend staff and students wear masks, but masks will no longer be mandated. On the other hand, we still insist that your child stay home if they are ill and practice social distancing as appropriate. Thank you for your help.
