Cairo High School accounting students pictured above attended the 26th Annual Accounting Challenge at SIU-Carbondale on February 2, 2024. The event was held at the SIU Student Center Ballrooms where southern Illinois schools competed in individual and team events in accounting concepts.

Students competed in an individual accounting exam competition as well as a team competition. In the team competition, students worked together to create a tower with a file folder, posterboard, and masking tape. Students competed for a variety of scholarships and several door prizes were given away.

The Cairo High School Former WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) Team now ACES through Eastern Illinois University won 3rd Place at the Regional ACES Competition on February 8, 2024 at Shawnee Community College. The ACES Competition is sponsored by Eastern Illinois University. It measures high school students’ knowledge of English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, and engineering graphics.
