On March 9th, a group of Information Processing I and Business Technology students at Cairo High School participated in a visit to the School of Communication Studies and College of Business at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

The Cairo High School former WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) Team hosted formerly by University of Illinois now ACES Team participated at the Regional ACES Competition on February 7, 2023 at Shawnee Community College. The ACES Competition is sponsored by the College of Engineering at Eastern Illinois University. It measures high school students’ knowledge of English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, and engineering graphics.

Cairo Jr. High School Beta Club attended the 29th Annual Illinois Jr. Beta Convention on March 21-22, 2023 at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield, Illinois. The theme for this year’s convention was “Power of Beta.” Students competed in a variety of academic and talent competitions.

Cairo High School Beta Club attends 64th Annual Illinois Sr. Beta Convention at the Bank of Springfield in Springfield, Illinois on March 23-24, 2023. The theme for this year’s convention was “Power of Beta.” Students competed in a variety of academic and talent competitions.

There will also be a Promenade in the School Gymnasium beginning at 6:00pm, to allow spectators to see the students. This event will include 7th grade students, if they wish to attend to help the graduates celebrate.

We are encouraging students grades 3-8 to log into their Chromebooks at home, and to take the practice tests to prepare them for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), in order to help prepare them for what to expect in the coming weeks. We appreciate your assistance.

The administrators of Cairo Unit School District #1 attended a Teacher Career Fair today at Murray State University. The administrators received resumes from several qualified applicants.

While on campus they were able to spend time with faculty and students of the Department of Mass Media. They participated in activities that gave them an in depth look at advertising, multimedia journalism, public relations, video and film production, and media management.
